Giving

Jesus said,

"Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:21

As stewards of our finances, we encourage those in the First CRC community, and we invite those who support First CRC's work for shalom in Vancouver, to contribute towards our budget.

You can also contribute through cash, cheque or pre-arranged giving.

Contact our deacons to set something up.

These are the ways we joyfully treasure the ministry work we have been entrusted at First CRC:

Our Relationship with God supports our regular Sunday worship services, kids' ministries, adult discipleship, small groups, and a portion of our staff salaries.

Our Relationship with Each Other supports the many events of hospitality and care we do as a congregation, the many practical ways we show tanglible care toward those who are experiencing significant life events, and a portion of our staff salaries.

Our Relationship with our Neighbours supports our weekly Community Night meals, our choir, neighbourhood movie nights, and hospitality for Canadian refugee newcomers with our closest neighbours at the Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) Welcome Centre through English Conversation Groups, shared meals, and Welcome Boxes for newly arrived refugees.*

* We also fund the refugee ministry more directly through an annual offering. If you are interested in contributing directly, please contact Dena Nicolai at dena@van1crc.org

Our Relationship with the World begins with the way we steward our physical building, supports the Garden of Eatin' Community Garden on the Southeast corner of our property, and helps those in the First CRC community seek peace in the city through the many different facets of work represented in our community.

We also partner in ministries beyond our own congregation as close to 20% of our annual budget goes towards partners in ministries that are outside of Vancouver!

  • Around BC: including the Tapestry Marpole churchplant, UNBC Campus chaplain work, and Ministry to Seafarers.
  • Across Canada: including Diaconal Ministries Canada (helping to fund ministries such as Kinbrace and our own refugee response work), the Christian Reformed Centre for Public Dialogue in Ottawa which focuses on federal policy engagement around issues including indigenous education reform and reconciliation and refugee justice, the Canadian Aboriginal Ministries Committee, and Christian Reformed Home Missions.
  • In North America and around the world: through work that includes the Office of Social Justice, Think Christian media work, Back to God Ministries global media ministry, World Missions, and World Renew.
